Hi friends if you are interested to go to Goa this summer
holidays, calangute beach is the best place in north Goa for your visit .It is
biggest beach in north Goa. It is very popular among Indians as well as foreigners.
It’s always crowded with people, mostly Russians. The beach is home to many
water sports activities like Para sailing, banana boat ride, Jet Ski etc. And
it is also famous for shopping, with sea shells to shirts, wine, beer. This
place is good for family trip as well as for honeymoon couples. Calangute beach
symbolize Goa's reputation as a haven for beach and coastal splendor shopping
At Calangute Beach. The road from the town to the beach is lined with
Kashmiri-run handicraft boutiques and Tibetan stalls selling Himalayan curios
and jewellery. The quality of the goods - mainly Rajasthani, Gujarati and
Karnatakan textiles - is generally high. Haggle hard and don't be afraid to
walk away from a heavy sales pitch - the same stuff crops up every Wednesday at
Anjuna's flea market. Calangute beach starts in the afternoon when the wind is
blowing just in the right direction and it goes on till sunset. Calangute can
be reached from Panaji or Mapusa. The cost from Panaji Bus stand to Calangute is
Rs 7.If you chose a motorcycle pilot or a taxi, it would cost you more. Bus is
best means to travel if you want to interact with the locals and the tourists.
As you get off at the last stop, the beach is a 2 minute walk from the bus
stand. The large stone steps lead your way to the beach. As your feet touch the
golden sand and as you feel the breeze blowing you are transported to another
world. If you keep walking to your right, after a 1.5 km walk you shall reach
the Baga beach. There are many activities such as water sports, swimming or
even people watching which you can indulge in at the beach. Beach shacks are
plenty but the food is not always hygienic. If you intend to spend the whole
day at the beach I would advise you to take a sun bed at any of the beach
shacks. In some shacks sun bed is free while in others it is charged at Rs 50
per day. If you have time you could also explore the Calangute village.
Accommodation is available for all budgets. If you are staying near the beach I
would advise you not to miss your morning walks on the beach. The sunset is
also worth watching. Eating out Joints & Restaurants Calangute's bars and
restaurants are mainly grouped around the entrance to the beach and along the
Baga road. This place is full of crowd and you can make a lot of fun like paragliding
